PhD student

My name is Utkarsh Mahamune, I come from India. I have a bachelor’s degree (BTech) in computer science and engineering from India. I was always fascinated by the work and research in the field of medical science, life sciences and thus I pursued my master’s degree in computational life sciences from Jacobs University Bremen (Germany), in pursuit of getting the best of both, computer science and life sciences, with a futuristic outlook for a better society. During my master’s degree thesis, I worked on transcriptomic data for NAFLD patients with genomic-scale metabolic models to understand the disease progression using the network biology approaches.

After pursuing the master’s degree I moved to the Netherlands for my PhD studies. I am associated with Amsterdam University Medical Centers (Amsterdam UMC) as a Researcher PhD student since September 2020 under Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) fellowship in the Amsterdam Rheumatology Center for AutoImmune Diseases (ARCAID), a project funded by a European Horizon 2020 MSCA-COFUND grant.

In the Bioinformatics Laboratory, I work on understanding autoimmune disorders through computational modeling.
