On November 16th and 17th, the Netherlands Metabolomics Centre, in collaboration with Exposome NL, hosted the Benelux Metabolomics Symposium in Utrecht. Representing the Bioinformatics section of the EDS department at Amsterdam UMC, I had the privilege of joining our collaborative partners from the Genetics Metabolic Disease department to engage in enlightening discussions on various topics presented by experts from the Netherlands and Belgium.

Among the noteworthy presentations, Craig Wheelock from LUMC shed light on the role of Octadecanoids as novel Bioactive lipids in Inflammation, while Peter Horvatovich (UMCG) provided valuable insights and ideas. These insights are poised to enhance and refine our lipidomic analysis at the Core Facility Metabolomics at Amsterdam UMC. The Jaarbeurs Utrecht served as an ideal venue for exchanging thoughts on scientific posters and presentations during the breakout sessions with my fellow metabolomics colleagues.

Looking ahead, I am confident that next year, we will showcase some of the compelling new developments currently unfolding at the Core Facility Metabolomics.

Cheers,

Eric Wever
